Wildlife Photography

Freeroam challenge photographing animal species for GTA V 100% completion.

Overview

Wildlife Photography is a GTA V completion activity requiring players to photograph every listed animal species using the in-game camera or smartphone. Animals appear in rural Blaine County, Mount Chiliad, and coastal wilderness areas. Each unique species registers once in Game stats when properly framed and captured. Mission progress saves at most checkpoints in supported titles, and the pause-map legend continues to display active objectives while players manage wanted levels or switch protagonists when the strand allows.

Walkthrough

1. Open Game stats to review the Wildlife Photography checklist. 2. Travel to wilderness spawn areas — Raton Canyon, Paleto Forest, and Mount Chiliad. 3. Equip the camera and zoom on undiscovered species. 4. Photograph each animal before it flees out of range. 5. Repeat until every species slot shows completed. 6. Review the mission summary on the results screen for payout totals, respect changes, or unlock notifications before returning to freeroam.

Completion Notes

Blurry or distant shots may not register. Some nocturnal animals appear more frequently at night. Killing animals before photographing them prevents that spawn from counting until it respawns.

Trivia

Wildlife Photography complements the hunting activity but uses non-lethal documentation. It encourages exploration of areas rarely visited during the main story. Rockstar documents these beats in the retail mission text, phone scripts, and pause-menu checklist where applicable.
