Wanted Level (GTA Online)

Wanted stars and police response in GTA Online freeroam, missions, and adversarial modes.

Overview

GTA Online reuses the star wanted system in freeroam. Missions, heists, and adversarial modes often override or disable natural wanted gain. Lester services and other Interaction Menu options can clear stars when unlocked for the character. Verify current menu labels in the live client.

Response tiers

Freeroam response scales with star count similarly to story mode: local police early, heavier tactical and air units later. Passive Mode, ghost organization options, and property interiors change how easily players can reset heat between shootouts across Los Santos and Blaine County.

Losing wanted level

- Break LOS and leave the search zone. - Use Lester “Remove Wanted Level” when available. - Enter owned property interiors that clear pursuit. - Mission scripts may auto-clear stars on objective complete. - Passive Mode and ghost organization options reduce freeroam exposure while active.

Trivia

Compare with Wanted Level (GTA V) for story-mode tuning. LSPD and NOOSE pages cover the agencies that respond at higher stars in Los Santos freeroam.
