Triathlon

Multi-stage race combining swimming, cycling, and running in GTA V Hobbies and Pastimes.

Overview

Triathlons in GTA V are structured races requiring players to swim, bicycle, and run through checkpoint courses around San Andreas. They appear as Hobbies and Pastimes events with competitive AI racers. Winning triathlons demands stamina management, sprint timing, and clean transitions between disciplines. Mission progress saves at most checkpoints in supported titles, and the pause-map legend continues to display active objectives while players manage wanted levels or switch protagonists when the strand allows.

Walkthrough

1. Go to the Triathlon start marker when it appears on the map. 2. Swim through the first checkpoint series using sprint strokes sparingly. 3. Mount the provided bicycle for the mid-leg road segments. 4. Dismount for the final running leg to the finish line. 5. Place first or meet the listed requirement to mark the event complete. 6. Review the mission summary on the results screen for payout totals, respect changes, or unlock notifications before returning to freeroam.

Fail Conditions

Drowning during the swim leg fails the race. Destroying the bicycle or missing checkpoints forces a restart. Stamina depletion slows running unless players pace sprints.

Trivia

Triathlons use dedicated sports bicycles separate from freeroam bikes. They are among the longest single hobby events in the completion checklist. Rockstar documents these beats in the retail mission text, phone scripts, and pause-menu checklist where applicable.
