Random Events

Unscripted world encounters in GTA V that spawn throughout San Andreas after story progress milestones.

Overview

Random Events are optional freeroam encounters in GTA V that appear as small blips or ambient scenes after certain story milestones. They include robberies, domestic disputes, hitchhikers, police pursuits, and similar vignettes. Completing a set number of unique random events contributes toward 100% completion and often rewards money, stat boosts, or special vehicles. Mission progress saves at most checkpoints in supported titles, and the pause-map legend continues to display active objectives while players manage wanted levels or switch protagonists when the strand allows.

Walkthrough

1. Drive or walk through San Andreas after unlocking random events post-early story. 2. Investigate flashing red blips or audible cues near the player. 3. Interact with the scene — help victims, chase thieves, or make moral choices. 4. Avoid repeating the same event type until new ones spawn. 5. Track completed events in the pause menu Game stats counter. 6. Review the mission summary on the results screen for payout totals, respect changes, or unlock notifications before returning to freeroam.

Completion Notes

Events fail if required NPCs die before objectives complete or if the player leaves the area too quickly. Some events cannot repeat; completion hunters maintain save rotations to catch rare spawns.

Trivia

Random Events differ from Strangers and Freaks because they lack fixed map icons until they spawn. Certain events unlock unique characters or vehicles when handled correctly. Rockstar documents these beats in the retail mission text, phone scripts, and pause-menu checklist where applicable.
