Prologue
The opening mission in North Yankton where Michael, Trevor, and Brad attempt a bank robbery that ends in betrayal and sets up the main Los Santos story nine years later.
Overview
Prologue is the only story mission set in North Yankton. It depicts the failed robbery at a small-town bank and the shootout that follows when federal agents arrive. The mission establishes Michael and Trevor as former partners, introduces Dave Norton's involvement with the FIB, and explains how Michael faked his death while Brad was left behind. After the prologue, the game jumps forward nine years to Los Santos and Franklin Clinton's introduction.
Walkthrough
1. Drive the getaway vehicle to the bank entrance with the crew. 2. Enter the bank and intimidate staff while Trevor collects cash from the vault. 3. Exit into the alley and fight off pursuing agents. 4. Regroup at the getaway car and escape through North Yankton streets. 5. Continue the escape until the scripted crash and confrontation that closes the prologue.
Fail Conditions
The mission fails if any crew member dies before the scripted escape sequence, if the player abandons the objective vehicle during the bank phase, or if the escape route is not completed before the timer-driven pursuit overwhelms the crew.
Trivia
North Yankton remains accessible only during Bury the Hatchet later in the story. The prologue uses a separate map area that is not part of the Los Santos open world.
