Overview
Free Mode drops players into a shared Liberty City session without a scripted win condition. Players can explore, fight, race informally, and launch other activities from the pause or phone menus depending on client build. It is the default open session for GTA IV Online freeroam. Confirm rules, team sizes, and payouts in the retail GTA IV Online lobby UI before hosting a match. Primary sources are the in-game mode list, pre-match options screen, and on-screen objectives rather than third-party checklists.
Rules
Session size and host migration follow GTA IV Online peer-to-peer rules. Wanted levels and police response use the Online tuning of the IV law-enforcement system. Players can still open the lobby to start Deathmatch, Race, or Party Mode jobs from inside the session where the client allows.
